Juventus back in talks with Chelsea for Serbian midfielder
Reports from Italy state that Juventus are back in talks with Chelsea over a move for Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic. The 28-year-old looks to be surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge next term and Blues boss Antonio Conte is ready to off-load the player before the August 31 deadline.
The Bianconeri remain in pole-position to grab his signature but are reluctant to pay the current asking price of £40M. CEO Beppe Marotta has also made contingencies by making an approach for Liverpool star Emre Can who he believes can arrive in Turin for a much more competitive price.
Despite this, Matic has always been the Italian champions’ first choice and Sky Sport Italia (via The Daily Star) understand that talks are now back under way to try to reach an agreement. The Serb is also interesting Manchester United with his former boss Jose Mourinho understood to be keen to take him to Old Trafford although recent reports suggest that this interest has now cooled.
