Inter pulled out of Imbula deal

Inter were very close to signing Giannelli Imbula during the summer, according to reports.

Imbula has graced these pages before, with his move to FC Porto involving Nelio Lucas and Doyen Sports Investments, a fund that specializes in TPO (Third Party Ownership) player deals.

The former Marseille player was all set to move to the Nerazzurri, after OM had accepted the Nerazzurri's offer. However, Inter then found out that they'd been given the all clear for their first choice, Geoffrey Kondogbia, and opted to sign the Monaco man instead.

Having spent €35 million on Kondogbia, the Nerazzurri couldn't afford to shell out more on another expensive central midfielder, and decided to pull out of the Imbula deal, allowing FC Porto to make an approach and come away with Imbula on a €20 million transfer.
