Zenit give Juventus green light to sign Witsel

Zenit St. Petersburg have give Juventus green light to sign Axel Witsel in the January transfer window, today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport reports. The Russian side are said to be open to sell the Belgium International for just €6 million given that his contract expires at the end of the season and that the former Benfica man would join Juventus as a free agent at the end of the season.

Witsel came close to joining the Serie A giants this past summer but when Juventus seemed to have found agreements with both the club and the player, Zenit blocked Witsel’s Juventus transfer and the deal collapsed in the deadline day.

Now, the time has finally come for Witsel to marry the Old Lady and if the report coming from La Gazzetta dello Sport is to be believed, the 27-year-old midfield star will join Juventus next month.

Witsel is Juventus’ January priority target given that he’s not only  a very cheap reinforcement and that he can play the Champions League from February.
