Sousa-Fiorentina, it's over: Sarri tops the list of possible replacements
Whatever happens this season, the fate of Fiorentina coach Paulo Sousa is already decided; statements last week on the future of Federico Bernardeschi have pretty much sealed his fate and according to Corriere dello Sport, Sporting Director Pantaleo Corvino has also withdrawn his support for the Portuguese tactician.
Sousa’s current deal expires in June but La Viola has the ability to exercise a further one-year extension in March. That seems unlikely and there are even reports suggesting that defeat away to Inter on Monday evening, will see the axe come down on his tenure.
There are two names that top the club’s list of alternatives; Sassuolo coach Eusebio Di Francesco and rather surprisingly, Maurizio Sarri of Napoli who is believed to be the first choice of Corvino to try to elevate the club back to the top of Serie A. Finally, there is Marco Giampaolo, currently at the helm at Sampdoria and Leonardo Semplici, the clubs former Primavera coach but now doing excellent work at Serie B side Spal.
