Sampdoria: Cassano granted shooting practice despite uncertain future.
Antonio Cassano continues to train alone at Sampdoria. Out of favour and out of the squad, his future remains unclear, but yesterday, things may have taken a turn for the better after he was granted a training partner; Primavera goalkeeper Giacomo Piccardo.
The 34-year-old, who has 34 appearances to his name for the national team, had requested that he be allowed to keep his appetite for scoring goals by having shooting practice with a goalkeeper. Cassano spent yesterday literally firing shots at the youngster as he waits to hear what the future has in store.
According to Secolo XIX, Samp president Ferrero has once again been in discussions with Romei after initial talks three weeks ago. The journal claims that in the next few days, the pair could meet the new boss of the club’s technical area, Daniele Prade (a man who Cassano knows well from his time at Roma) to try to come to an amicable solution.
The player himself however, is adamant that he sees out the rest of his contract at the port city club which expires next summer. The easiest solution in the short-term is to enlist him in the 25-man squad for the second-half of the campaign.
