Roma: Szczesny and De Sanctis out, Sportiello and Scuffet in?
Despite lying just four points off the top, Rudi Garcia's side have shipped in eight goals and scored just one in defeats to Barcelona and Atalanta.
Beyond the embarassment of playing very badly indeed, Roma manager Rudi Garcia is reported by a number of media outlets to be on a short leash of four games.
Things are just as unstable in goal, with Wojciech Szczesny failing to impress after a good start, and unlikely to stay beyond this season anyway.
Morgan De Sanctis has played decently, but made a number of serious errors last season. Neither keeper is a long-term option anymore, and both are set to leave in summer.
Sporting Director Walter Sabatini already has a solution to this goalkeeping dilemma. In fact, he has two, as Leggo.it reports that he wants to bring in Marco Sportiello from Udinese and Simone Scuffet, who belongs to Udinese.
These two of the most promising young goalkeepers Italy have. Sportiello has done a great job at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia, whilst Scuffet began life in Serie A coming off an Under-17 World Cup, earning six clean sheets and an outstanding 41 saves in his first 16 games with Udinese.
Bringing in both could be problematic, however, as Scuffet revealed not so long ago that he joined Como on loan because he didn't want to be second in line any longer behind Orestis Karnezis, and didn't want to warm the bench for a big club either. The 19-year-old is an inspired choice, but would want playing time.
