Manolas is now expected to sign a contract extension until 2022. The player’s new salary will be in the region of € 3 million-a-year but clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United would still have a chance to sign him either in January or in the summer.
Both Premier League giants had been linked with a summer move for the 26-year-old last summer but they eventually decided to sign Antonio Rudiger (Chelsea) and Victor Lindelof (Man Utd).
According to Il Corriere della Sera Manolas entourage want to add a € 30 million release clause in the player’s new deal and that fee would definitely be affordable for both the Red Devils and the Blues.
