- Matthew Klimberg
Reports are suggesting that Chelsea brass is already planning for life after Antonio Conte. The Italian tactician, who guided his club to the Premier League crown in his first season, suddenly finds himself embattled as his team struggles and players appear to tune him out.
According to Italian outlet 7 Gold, Chelsea is prepared to offer the managing role to another Italian. Per the report, the club is preparing an titanic offer of €12 million per season to Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri.
It has also been suggested that the Napoli brass are aware, and are planning for the future as a result. Reportedly, they are considering Sampdoria boss Marco Giampaolo for the role.
Bringing Sarri to Stamford Bridge would not come cheap, by any means. In addition to his salary, the chain smoker has an €8 million release clause at the São Paulo, which is only valid until May 31st. Currently, he’s guided Napoli to the top position in the league.
