OPINION: What a waste of talent Mario! Nobody wants you anymore

OPINION: What a waste of talent Mario! Nobody wants you anymore

Mario Balotelli’s season ended in the worse way possible, but everyone expected that. Antonio Conte has included the former Liverpool man from his preliminary 30-men list squad for EURO 2016. SuperMario claimed a starring role for Italy at EURO 2012, scoring a spectacular brace against Germany in the semi-finals.

Four years later he will watch this summer’s tournament from the sofa. The rossoneri striker will turn 26 in August and after losing another chance at the San Siro it is quite clear now that he has been wasting most of his talent throughout his entire career.

Three goals and one assist are everything he was able to produce in the 2015-16 campaign which was also influenced by a sports hernia injury which had been sidelining him for more than three months. Super Mario will return to Anfield Road in the summer as AC Milan are not going to sign him to a permanent deal. Liverpool’s request for Balo is too high, though the Reds don’t want to keep him either.

Jurgen Klopp has offered him everywhere around Europe: Espanyol and Fiorentina are among those who have received an email from Liverpool, but nobody wants Balotelli anymore. No secret that the player would like to stay at AC Milan, but he has shown too little to deserve a confirmation with the rossoneri this season.

His career has been like a descending parabola and emerging from the underworld now seems as difficult as ever.
