New Barcelona coach wants Man Utd midfielder to be his first signing
With Ernesto Valverde set to be unveiled as the new coach of Barcelona, Spanish sports journal As reports that his first transfer target will be Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera. The 27-year-old, who was voted fans’ player of the season at Old Trafford, has been an integral part of Jose Mourinho’s squad this year and his former mentor at Athletic Bilbao is believed to want to reunite with him at the Camp Nou.
However, the journal goes on to state that prizing Herrera away from Manchester may be a difficult task after United secured Champions League football thanks to their Europa League triumph in Stockholm last week.
Should his pursuit of his fellow countryman ultimately prove to be fruitless, it’s expected he will turn his full attention to PSG midfielder Marco Verratti although the report suggests he may even go for a double swoop to freshen up the Blaugrana ahead of the new campaign.
