Milan pounce on Arsenal target Vincent Koziello
"The shrimp who became an eagle".
That's how SoFoot, one the most popular football magazines in France, described one of brightest talents of Ligue 1: OGC Nice’s central midfielder Vincent Koziello.
Scorer of three goals in 25 games this term, Koziello is not a very physical player (h: 168 cm, w: 60 kg), but he’s definitely one of those midfielders who knows exactly how to caress the ball. His vision and personality have allowed him to become one of Aiglon's mainstays.
Koziello made his senior debut with the Ligue 1 side last term, racking up eight appearances between league and cup games. He’s stepped up in the current season, when Nice manager Claude Puel gave him the keys to the French side's midfield.
Everything goes through him at the Allianz Riviera, and even his small height does not limit his huge talent. Accompanied by Nampalys Mendy (23) and Rémi Walter (20), Nice's midfield is one of the most interesting combinations of young talent on the continent.
Due to his nationality as well as his position on the pitch, the promising 20-year-old has already been compared to some of the best French footballers of all time, namely one Didier Deschamps.
Again, being young and French, who else could have targeted him if not Arsene Wenger?
The Frenchman sent a couple of scouts to watch OGC Nice’s clash against Lyon last November (Koziello scored).
The Gunners will face competition from Serie A, however, with Milan are also interested in signing the Frenchman next summer, alongside teammate Hatem Ben Arfa.
