Matuidi: "I wanted to leave but PSG blocked the move" the door is still open for Juve
Along with Axel Witsel, Blaise Matuidi was one that got away from Juventus this summer; The 28-year-old French midfielder was the primary choice to replace Paul Pogba but PSG never retracted from their €30-35 million valuation which proved too much for the bianconeri, despite agreeing personal terms with the player.
In the end, Matuidi stayed in the French capital but he’s spoken to Telefoot about the events surrounding his ultimately unsuccessful switch. He explained that; “I wanted to leave but PSG blocked the move. It’s been a delicate period for me and I’m still happy in Paris despite these events. Now I’m concentrating on the season ahead and I have a good rapport with my new coach (Emery). He has put his full trust in me”. Despite these words, Matuidi’s contract expires in 2018 and Juve will still be hopeful to finally get their man next summer.
