Mancini: "Banega would be useful, Ibra will not arrive. I will stay 100% but the national team...."
Inter coach Roberto Mancini has been speaking to Gr Parlamento about his season with the nerazzurri.
He began by explaining that; “I think we’ve had a good season, we wanted to get into the Champions League but we have finished ahead of some strong teams. To arrive fourth is not a bad result”.
A SEASON WORTH 6.5
He continued by declaring that; “As I stated after the Sassuolo game I would not have been content with third place. My vote for the season; I would say 6.5 because we have improved compared to last year”.
IMPROVEMENTS IN THE SQUAD
When asked about who he thought had improved over the campaign he replied; “Handanovic, Miranda and Murillo have all got better and have really displayed their quality. Next year they will get even stronger, same as Geoffrey Kondogbia who improved in the second-half of the campaign”.
FROM BANEGA TO IBRAHIMOVIC
The subject then moved on to the transfer market with some familiar names cropping up. Mancini explained that; “Banega is done? Well, it seems so. He has quality and character and will help the team. Are we lacking another striker? Well, even Juventus is lacking someone like Higuain! Ibrahimović; I don’t believe he will arrive as I think he has already decided his future”.
I WILL STAY
When asked about his future he replied; “I will stay 100%, I feel trusted by the club who have never let me down”.
MORRATTI IMPORTANT
On the subject of former president Massimo Morratti he stated that; “It’s important that he is still at the club and has a good relationship with Thohir because it helps to integrate things. He wrote an important page in the history of this club”.
NATIONAL TEAM
Finally, when the possibility of being the next Azzurri coach was put to him he replied; “You would have to think about it if it was offered as it may not come around again”.
