Liverpool set to land Naby Keita as RB Leipzig line up his successor
Liverpool’s summer pursuit of Naby Keita could come to fruition after all with news that the players current employers RB Leipzig, are set for a dramatic U-turn and will allow the player to go to Anfield after all.
Having already had bids of £57M and £66M (both club records) rejected by the Bundesliga side for their star player, German newspaper Bild now understands that Leipzig may be about to have a change of heart. Tensions inside the club have grown with Keita himself landing in hot water after a training ground incident with team-mate Diego Demme in Austria. A heavy tackle left Demme needing extensive treatment and the session was cancelled.
The journal also states that whilst he has apologised for his actions, his mood in training has shifted with his heart reportedly set on a move to Anfield. Sporting Director Ralph Rangnick, for so long adamant that the Guinean international will not be sold, is now believed to be searching for his successor.
Leipzig, who are in the Champions League next season, had hoped that the youngster would stay at the club for another season at least but with the Premier League giants lurking in the background, this now seems unlikely.
