Lazio reject 28 million bid from Liverpool for Serbian midfielder
Lazio have rejected a €28M bid from Liverpool for midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. Corriere dello Sport (via Calciomercato.com) states that the club from the Italian capital see the 22-year-old as a central figure in their rebuilding plans this summer and have told the Premier League side to forget about taking him to Anfield.
Biancocelesti patron Claudio Lotito is fighting to keep some of the clubs top stars with both defender Stefan de Vrij (also linked with a move to Liverpool) and forward Keita Balde set to depart the Eternal City ahead of the new campaign.
Lotito has placed a reported €70M on the young Serbian’s head to ward off any potential suitors after the player had a wonderful 2016-17 campaign with the club. Under the guidance of coach Simone Inzaghi, Milinkovic-Savic has become a key component if the framework of the team and is now considered as un-sellable in the eyes of the power brokers at the Stadio Olimpico.
