Klopp: why I chose Liverpool over Man Utd
Jurgen Klopp has explained why he opted for Liverpool over Manchester United.
Recently interviewed by major African outlet Soccer Laduma, the German star and Bundesliga winner with Borussia Dortmund was recently revealed to have always dreamed of coaching the Mancunian side.
He instead opted for Liverpool almost two years ago, hinting that the “historic club” [Man United] understood football in a different way to him.
“Why Liverpool? I had an offer of another historical English club two years ago, but I ever felt comfortable with how they understood football.”
“It didn’t feel right. When Liverpool called, I can’t explain it. It was right.”
The German has yet to lead the Reds to silverware, but they’re certainly playing the attacking football he has always predicated. Then again, the German had some surprising answers when asked who the best player he had ever coach was:
“Best player I’ve ever coached? Mario Goetze. He was unbelievable. The biggest improvement, though, was Lewandowski.
