Inter target Mauricio Pinilla as Icardi's supersub
The Chilean has done very well for himself at Atalanta, but with the Bergamo side bringing in Gian Piero Gasperini, it looks like the ice is breaking under PiniGol, who never got on well with the former Genoa man when the two were together at the Marassi. Pinilla famously only lasted six months before moving to Atalanta, where he returned to his scoring ways.
Inter, for their part, need someone to act as a sub for star striker Mauro Icardi: they want a veteran, a man who knows Serie A but won't be pushing for a starting spot.
Pinilla was first brought to Italy by the Nerazzurri 13 years ago, but has since admitted that he wasn't ready for the big time back then. What he's also admitted is his love for the club's colours, as proved by the below tweet when Walter Samuel won the Beneatama the Derby back in 2012...
This looks like a match made in heaven. Atalanta are looking for Pinilla's replacement (Thereau of Udinese?), whilst Inter have repeatedly been linked to him. He has 46 Serie A goals with Palermo, Atalanta, Genoa and Cagliari.#AMALA ...!!!
