Inter, De Boer explains Brozovic's return to starting XI
Inter sat back so much against Torino, is that just a coincidence?
“Team must be compact at anytime, it doesn’t matter in which part of the pitch. We must stay within 25 meters, not 40 like against Atalanta. We made some corrections against Torino.”
The Sampdoria one is a tough clash, they let their opponents play... “It depends on us really, as usual. We have to remain focused and show the same discipline that we had against Torino. We must have the same philosophy.”
Did you enjoy the performance against Torino?
“I saw a united team, they all wanted to play all together and nobody was doing things on his own. We deserved to win.”
Club’s chiefs have confirmed their trust in you. Are you happy for that?
“It’s always very important when chiefs show support for the project and its philosophy. We are calmer now, it’s been a very good thing indeed for everyone here and results will come accordingly.”
You’ve managed to recover Brozovic, why not Kondogbia?
“I always try to treat everyone the same way. Brozovic has had a great reaction. He knew he was wrong and said sorry to everybody, he’s listened to us and has understood what we need. He’s now aware of what I want from him. When you give players another chance, they know they can’t waste it. That’s exactly what Brozovic has done and that’s why he’s been playing three games in a row. Kondogbia is improving, but can still do more. He’s not going to be called for tomorrow’s game due to an injury which is nothing serious really.”
Is it now easier to work after the win against Torino?
“We have to walk down this path, having the right behaviour and discipline. I don’t want to see two or three good games; we always have to have the same spirit of Wednesday.”
