Icardi: 'Inter want to do great things'
Superstar Mauro Icardi had some very encouraging words for the Nerazzurri faithful. Asked about the clubs' new owners, he had this to say:
"I've followed all the developments, I'm sure that the new owners will do what is best for Inter, as Moratti and Thohir did before them.
"Our objective is to return to the Champions League, because Inter is one of the greatest teams in the world, they deserve it. We came close last year, we want to achieve great things this time round".
The 23-year-old seems to have shrugged off a number of disappointments, from his tough start to the 2015-2016 season to being dropped from Argentina's Copa America squad. It seems that the former Sampdoria man is relishing the captain's armband, which was handed to him last year.
"The responsibility of carrying Zanetti's armband is a big one, but I'm proud of it".
"We're waiting for the fans in Riscone, we know many will come, it's important to us. Football isn't the same without the fans, and we feel the warmth of the faithful, who are always supporting us".
Icardi is coming off a good season with Inter, scoring 16 Serie A goals despite a slow start.
