Have Juventus spent €90m for Higuain to leave him out in big games?

Juventus spent € 90 million for Gonzalo Higuain and € 30 million for Miralem Pjanic last summer. The Old Lady wanted to add quality to her squad and the former Napoli and Roma stars are definitely what the bianconeri need to win the Serie A for the sixth time in a row and become a serious competitor for the Champions League.

Trouble is, Allegri benched Pjanic for the Champions League game against Sevilla on Wednesday night and did the same with Gonzalo Higuain this evening, when Juventus deservedly lost 2-1 to Inter at the San Siro against Inter.

Sometimes, Allegri seems to be more concerned about balance than about quality and in the last two games his mistakes cost Juventus the win. Against Sevilla, the Old Lady created goal chances just when Pjanic replaced Asamoah. Today, he left Higuain warming the bench for too long.

Juventus had to play against Inter with the best line-up possible. They spent € 90 million to sign a player, Higuain, who has to play each big game of the season, just like Pjanic.

Juventus need balance, but in the last two games they were rather in need of ideas. The bianconeri can win against almost every league game playing with their B or C team, against big clubs, on the contrary, Allegri must play big names, otherwise the club’s summer investment would become useless.
