BREAKING Former Swedish Athletics Coach thinks Ibra doped at Juventus
A Swedish Coach believes that PSG star Zlatan Ibrahimovic was using illicit substances when he was at Juventus.
"Ibrahimovic put on 10 kilos in just six months during his time at Juventus" Ulf Karlsson told media at a press conference "I think he was doping, at least that's my opinion".
To be fair, none of this has been corroborated by other evidence, but Karlsson adds that "Albin Ekdal (in his season at Juventus in 2008-2009) also gained 8 kilos".
Karlsson himself isn't exactly spic and span, which could be viewed two ways: he has already admitted that he used illicit substances in his time with the Swedish Athletics Team, which he coached from 2001 to 2004. These days he is lobbying for the sport to completely eliminate drugs.
"We had a debate about all the negative things in sport, and about doping we underlined what happened to Juventus in the early 2000s. It's a pity if people see this as a personal accusation aimed at Zlatan. My words are meant to provoke a debate on doping in team sports".
Juventus themselves have hardly been free of scandals over the past few seasons, from Calciopoli to former Team Doctor Riccardo Agricola's doping case, which went thorugh the ringer of the Italian justice system.
Though the Bianconeri's case expired under the statute of limitations, the Court of Cassation wrote that Juventus had put a "criminal to tamper with games with the administering of illicit pharmaceuticals" between a different period, namely 1994 to 1998.
Either way, this should provide ample debating material... watch this space for developments!
CORRECTION:
We initally quoted Karlsson as being a Doctor, he is in fact a former Athletics Coach and lecturer. Thanks to @NottsJuventino and @IndianRegista for pointing it out!
