EXCLUSIVE Romano: Giuseppe Rossi hands in Fiorentina transfer request!

Giuseppe Rossi joined Fiorentina on a € 10 million deal from La Liga side Villareal in January 2013.

The 28-yer-old netted 19 goals in 36 games at the Artemio Franchi, but his three year-spell in Tuscany was highly affected by two knee injuries that forced him out of action for something like 69 games.

The current season didn’t start under the best of circumstances too as the former Man Utd youngster was ruled out for 13 games due to an muscle injury picked during Fiorentina’s summer training camp held in Moena.

As a consequence, Rossi could only rack up 321 minutes from 8 Serie A games this term.

With La Viola’s boss Paulo Sousa who usually opt to play the likes of Josip Ilicic, Nikola Kalinic or Khouma Babacar from the start, the players’ representatives handed in a transfer request at Fiorentina in attempt to find a team that can give him more playing time in January, calciomercato.com’s transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano exclusively reveals.

Sampdoria, Genoa and Bologna are interested in the player’s services but more Serie A clubs could join the race for Rossi who is more likely to leave Fiorentina on a six-months loan rather than on a permanent deal in the upcoming transfer window.
