EXCLUSIVE: Milan dream of Thiago Silva return as the ‘new Kompany’ shines with PSG
Kimpembe is a 21-year-old versatile defender, a product of the club’s academy who played just 695 minutes under Laurent Blans last term and who has been given a change to get more game time after the departure of David Luiz towards Chelsea.
According to his teammate Meunier, Kimpembe is similar to his compatriot and Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany. Unai Emery and PSG have been left impressed by Kimpembe’s performances, so much they are already working to extend his contract expiring in 2018.
Kimpembe’s promotion and Marquinho’s contract extension could lead to Thiago Silva’s departure, French media reports.
The Brazilian centre-back’s contract expires in June 2017, but PSG can activate an option to extend the player’s salary for one more season. Meantime, AC Milan are monitoring the situation and dream of the Brazilian’s San Siro return.
