Exclusive: Inter ponder new deal for star striker amid Real Madrid interest
The Inter striker has already banged in 13 goals this season, and has proven to be unstoppable, often netting quick one-two braces to floor opponents, helping Inter to an unbeaten start - in 13 games too.
It’s not easy to find such a prolific striker, and last summer’s huge outlay for M’Bappe and Neymar proves that spending 110 million (Icardi’s release clause) is a relative cakewalk.
Real Madrid are one name, as are Barcelona, PSG and Bayern, who are looking for Robert Lewandowski’s heir.
Yet Inter are very serene about all this interest: Icardi has not asked to leave or attempted to force an exit.
He has, if anything, confirmed how happy he is and how optimistic he is about the team’s future. He is apparently motivated by the eventual Champions League dimension this club brings.
That said, Inter are evaluating a new deal for Icardi with directors Sabatini and Ausilio, but are also trying to avoid drawing too much attention from the media.
Were they to earn CL qualification, they are considering offering the 23-year-old a better salary, and a bigger clause too.
One thing is certain : the Nerazzurri have no intention of losing their talismanic striker.
