Di Laurentiis: 'Milan, Juventus and Inter wanted Hamsik'

The chairman of Napoli Aurelio di Laurentiis has revealed that AC Milan and Juventus had asked to sign Marek Hamsik some years ago, but the player had decided to stay at the Stadio San Paolo.

Hamsik had also asked to leave the partenopei this past summer. Chinese clubs were highly interested in the Slovakian, but Hamsik decided to stay put.

Di Laurentiis was recently talking to Sky about the Napoli skipper and he made a rather surprising revelation.

He said:  "Hamsik? Moratti asked me for him many years ago. Allegri, both when he was at Milan and at Juventus, wanted to sign him. But he stayed with us."

Di Laurentiis gave this interview after Napoli's win over Red Star Belgrade, as the men in blue now face a decisive tie against Liverpool two weeks later to determine whether they will qualify for the Round of 16 of the Champions League or not.

The 31-year-old Hamsik has made eight appearances in the Serie A this season, but has appeared all five times in the Champions League, scoring once and assisting once.
