Chelsea make 52 million bid for Napoli star

Reports coming out of Italy suggest that Chelsea are ready to make another assault on Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly. On his arrival at Stamford Bridge last summer Antonio Conte made it clear that the Senegalese international was one of his main objectives but the West London side ultimately had a £40M offer rejected for the 25-year-old.

Now Tutto Mercato Web claims that the Premier League champions are about to test the water once again and are ready to up the stakes by tabling a £52.5M offer as Conte looks for the long-term successor to John Terry.

Adept at playing in a back three, Koulibaly would slot easily into the 3-4-3 system that has served the Italian so well in his first season in England, the only problem however, is that Napoli are ready to dig their heels in as they too have ambitions to mount a title challenge next season and reach the group stages of the Champions League.
