Bonaventura: ‘Milan too cautious against Juve’
With Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic under pressure once more and furious owner Silvio Berlusconi set for a meeting with the team on Friday, the Rossoneri are going through a rough patch.
Midfield talisman Giacomo Bonaventura agrees, telling Sky Sport Italia that the Diavolo players “were very cautious against Juventus, maybe too much so, as we should have done better in attack and tried to press Juventus more.”
“We played a little deep and that affected us.”
“Jack”, as he is known, also weighed on a controversy that is brewing under the surface, namely president Silvio Berlusconi’s wish for the team to revert to 4-4-2.
“It’s up to the coach to decide. We only need to think about doing well on the pitch. We’re not the manager, those decisions are within his purview, not ours”.
Milan swooped for the former Atalanta man on the final day of the 2014 summer transfer window, and he has rewarded them with a 5-assist season and a string of stunning performances.
And Bonaventura had some positive words for fans and team-mates alike.
“This defeat hurts, but it should give us the boost we need to do our best in our upcoming games.
“The players are aware that what we’ve done so far isn’t enough, and that we must do more. We need to score as many points as possible before Christmas”.
Milan play Sampdoria on Saturday evening.
