Ben Arfa missed Monday appointment with Barca... why?

Former Newcastle hopeful Hatem Ben Arfa missed a rendez-vous with Barcelona this week, according to L'Equipe.

Following a stunning season with the Ligue 1 club (16 goals), the former Premier League disappointment has been linked with Luis Enrique's side.

Check out some of his highlights here.

L'Equipe had initially published on Monday that the former Hull City flop had been set to travel to the Catalonian capital to visit the club's installations, and was booked into the first flight there from Paris' Orly airport.

In fact, it turns out that a final call was made for him, as it was believed that he would make a Vueling flight to Spain.

Ben Arfa would later announce through his club's website that he was still in Nice. He has also been linked to AC Milan.

The French paper reports today that the 27-year-old skipped his visit because of a cold, which would explain why he was also AWOL for Sunday's UNFP end-of-season awards.

He is now set to visit Barcelona next week.
