Barcelona sent their sporting director to scout Milan fullbacks De Sciglio and Abate

Barcelona sent top members of management to watch Milan full-backs Mattia De Sciglio and Ignazio Abate, according to reports.

Today’s edition of El Mundo Deportivo claim that Barcelona are looking for reinforcements at the back, and had director of sport Robert Fernandez and colleagues Urbano and Lluis present at the Giuseppe Meazza to watch Sunday’s Derby between Milan and Inter.

De Sciglio’s current deal expires in 2018, and shined enough at Euro 2016 to earn some credit. Juventus had, oddly enough, tailed him long before then, and saw a January offer be turned down.

Abate has also been linked to Barcelona because of his experience, the 30-year-old Milan captain seen as the kind of veteran who would help the Catalans. It isn’t a coincidence that he is named after the likes of Lichtsteiner, Srna and Rukavina, all mentioned in the last few weeks.

Neither full-back is, admittedly, enjoying the best of seasons, and Abate in particular is often the butt of jokes about the accuracy of his crosses.
